We’re coming to you from Da Nang, Vietnam. We’re going to go all around this area and show you some of the ancient Villages and tell you what there is to do while you’re here.
This list includes about 17 things you can do. I will provide some extra information at the end, so if you are excited about this post, let’s get started.
The Dragon Bridge is now open every Friday to Sunday night around 9:00 pm. They perform a 15-minute fire show. They close the bridge, and you can see the incredible show of the dragon breathing fire.
If your travel plans mean that you will not be here on the weekend, you can still drive across the bridge. However, you will not be able to see the nightly fire show with the dragon at the end of the fire show.
The dragon spits water here. We have now reached the highest Buddha temple.
Buddhist statues are also symbols of peace, joy, and prosperity in Vietnam. One can find one at Linh Ung Pagoda on the central peninsula, about 9 kilometers from Da Nang.
In addition to several temples, this place also has a beautiful view overlooking Da Nang.
There are beautiful bonsai trees and manicured gardens here, as well as some monkeys, but be careful with your ice cream around these monkeys because they might snatch it from your hand.
Next, we come to the Marble Mountains, a series of five different mountains made of limestone and marble. Mining is done here, and you’ll see many caves, tunnels, temples, and pagodas on top. So, if you’re looking for activities, this is the best option in Da Nang.
The caves are impressive. Keep in mind that they came from miners and were not necessarily formed naturally, which is why they are considered religious sites. They are sacred to the Cham people, who have lived in this area of central Vietnam for hundreds of years.
So you have to hike to the top of the mountain first and then explore the Mind Cave. This is where things get interesting because you’ll be surprised by how much cave infrastructure there is under these mountains.
The whole place is just a wonderland. I recommend going late in the evening or early in the morning to avoid the crowds, as it can get very busy. However, it’s a big complex, so you might need a few hours.
Make sure to carry plenty of water with you. Now, we head to the ancient village of Hoi An. It’s more of a city nowadays, but it’s a central coastal town.
Here, canals run in and out of this former port city, which was the melting pot of the area and home to many Japanese and Chinese fishermen. Today, you can see the iconic Japanese covered bridge and its pagoda, as well as Chinese wooden structures.
There are shophouses and temples here, and there are some French influences as well. It is about 30 minutes from Da Nang, and while you are in Hoi Hoi, you can go to the night market.
The night market now has more items to buy, as well as food.
There is also a cooking school nearby, so be sure to visit the night market. It has a nostalgic vibe and is next to an actual canal. There are also some very nice night markets in Da Nang.
Still, it is a great experience to go to Ba Na Hills, where there is a theme park and the Golden Hand Bridge. This theme park has now replaced a French resort.
In case you were wondering, there is only one way to get here except by cable car, so you have to take the cable car. Unfortunately, driving is not possible, so we will continue to show you Da Nang and Ba Na Hills.
Now, we are at the Golden Bridge. It is a golden bridge that is 150 meters long, 12 meters wide, and 8 meters wide and is held up by these hands on a clear day. From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a great view of Da Nang, so check the weather forecast before going up. He didn’t stop many people from going up because both Bon Na Hill and the Golden Bridge are quite an experience.
If you are planning to come here, I would say plan a full day. Whether you are staying in Hoi An or Da Nang, the cable car ride takes two hours. The cable car ride here takes 45 minutes, making it at least five hours round trip. So, how much time should you plan to stay at Bon Na Hill? About three or four hours. So plan a full day for one activity.
The good news is that the price of the Golden Bridge trip is included in the cable car ticket. So keep your ticket, show it, and you can go to the Golden Bridge with this ticket.
Now, you can explore the beaches in Da Nang. This is a look at Donation Beach, but some of the best beaches for viewing and relaxing are my favorites, not Neway because Neway is relatively close to the city center.
The good news is that you can swim at the beaches in Da Nang, and there are also very beautiful beaches in the group of islands in front of Da Nang, Cham Island.
We won’t highlight it in this post, but check out the charming islands where we are in Ca Chep Hoa Rong, where the carp turns into a dragon spring.
It’s an excellent place for a waterfront walk, especially at sunset. It’s right next to the Dragon Bridge, where there are the Dragon Bridge and the carp kites, and there’s the Cho Dem Son Food Market or Food Street.
It’s a great place to try some local dishes quickly and efficiently and hang out with many locals. It’s popular with some tourists, but many locals also come here.
Speaking of the river, we have to mention the river cruises. If you’re staying for more than five nights, I would try to do it as a night activity. Now we come to the Cham Sculpture Museum, which has more than 2,000 sculptures and artifacts from the Cham people, one of the oldest civilizations in the area, thousands of years old, and most of them are Muslims and Hindus.
Next, we went to the 3D Art Museum. This is a great place, especially if you have kids, but it’s also a great place for couples and adults. I loved walking around. It’s pretty big—like a big warehouse with a lot of different art to take pictures and relax. The entrance fee is about 200,000 VND, which is about 9 USD. I would expect to spend about an hour or two here walking around and taking it all in.
If you want to know which are the best places to visit in Vietnam, I would say Danang is probably number one. It is right up there with Crossing the Clock and Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City. I have been to Saigon, Danang, Hanoi, and the Mekong Delta, and I would say I had the most fun and relaxed atmosphere in Don Nang.
I also found it to be the most practical, and I will end this episode with Don Nang in Vietnam.
