“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law
he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth
its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper”
In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves
with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble”
For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise
for both the present life and the life to come.
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers
in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly
we are being renewed day by day.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go”
6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? 7 The LORD is with me;
he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies. 8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in humans.
“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word”
“As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend”
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not
allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape,
that you may be able to bear it”
“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong”
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet them inward man
is being renewed day by day”
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith
produces patience”
“So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God”
“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much”
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and
where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths
and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal…”
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies
as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform
to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able
to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up
meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more
as you see the Day approaching.
43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served,
but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people?
If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him;
male and female He created them.
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone;
I will make him a helper suitable for him”
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female;
for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
“It will come about after this That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and
daughters will prophesy, Your old men will dream dreams, Your young men will see visions.
Even on the male and female servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days”
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife,
as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church
is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman,
and God is the head of Christ.
A gracious woman attains honor, And ruthless men attain riches.
A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, But the slow to anger calms a dispute.
The steps of a man are established by the Lord, And He delights in his way.
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, And the wealth of the sinner
is stored up for the righteous.
Man’s steps are ordained by the Lord, How then can man understand his way?
The righteous man perishes, and no man takes it to heart; And devout men are taken away,
while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from evil.
‘And it shall be in the last days,’ God says, That I will pour forth of My Spirit on all mankind;
And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions,
And your old men shall dream dreams; Even on My bondslaves, both men and women, I will in those days
pour forth of My Spirit And they shall prophesy.
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve,
whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites,
in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong
or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge,
and if I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess
to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
who gave himself as a ransom for all men— the testimony given in its proper time.
Since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power
and divine nature —have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made,
so that men are without excuse.
[Jesus said] “You are the light of the world. Let your light shine before men, that they may see
your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith,
in love, and in endurance.
All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers
and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever.
It is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.
Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.
